South East Lions Storm to Promotion Playoff Victory Over Arklow
South East Lions delivered a commanding performance to secure a 42–14 victory over Arklow in the Division 2 Promotion Playoff, capping off an impressive display under the guidance of coaches; Ross Barbour and Will Morris, Manager Gràinne Barron and women’s coordinators Annette Guinan and Anna Marie Russell.
From the outset, the Lions imposed themselves with intensity and attacking intent, quickly putting Arklow under pressure. Their dominance paid off with a series of well-worked tries, showcasing both clinical finishing and cohesive team play.
The try scorers reflected the Lions’ attacking depth, with Nessa Carty and Caoimhe Reville both crossing early to set the tone. Shannon Codd and Megan Dee added further scores as the Lions continued to stretch the Arklow defence, while Clodagh Dee and Bronagh Boggan rounded off an excellent team performance with tries of their own.
Mia Kelly was flawless from the tee, successfully converting all six tries to maintain a perfect kicking record and keep the scoreboard ticking. Despite Arklow’s efforts and two well-earned tries, they struggled to contain a relentless South East Lions side who controlled the game throughout and showed their quality in both attack and defence.
